The Epson R-D1x has a rangefinder and good lenses.
If you seriously take pictures you use a rangefinder and good lens. It is as simple as that. Yes, you can take great pictures with all sorts of cameras. Happens all the time. But the Epson R-D1x is the sort of camera serious users drool over.

Canon has announced the PowerShot SD780 IS and PowerShot SD1200 IS. The two cameras are part of the companies IXUS line, and feature ultra-smart technology and the slimmest design ever in a Canon camera.

The Olympus E-620 digital SLR, due out in late April, is claimed to be the smallest DSLR with built in image stabilisation. The 12.3Mp SLR, according to Olympus, weighs only 475g (without the battery) and has compact dimensions. It has a maximum ISO sensitivity of 3,200 and is based on the four thirds standard.

Canon is showing off a new compact camera that packs quite a punch in the zoom department. The Canon Powershot SX200 IS takes pictures at a 12.1-megapixel resolution, and has a 12x optical zoom, much higher than the 3 and 4x zooms that cameras this size typically have.

In a sense you can divide most people’s photographic career into two. There was the bit where you, if off on a trip, you lugged around a single lens reflex, sometimes with extra lenses. And a lot of film which you kept cool and got developed at a horrendous price. And the one where you packed the equivalent of a box brownie and took pictures which were, frankly, not of the best.

Canon has replaced the PowerShot A470 with a new 10.0 Megapixel model which is called, with great imagination, the PowerShot A480. It is an improvement in that it is smaller — about 25% — has a 10 megapixels and a 3.3 optical zoom.

Sony has a new Webbie HD cameras which is designed to capture life as it happens in high definition video (1440×1080 and 30 frames per second which is high definition MPEG 4 video and almost, but not quite, serious professional HD) and 5-megapixel still photographs.

THE new Canon SX10 IS works like a Canon SLR — it is just a tad bulkier — and feels like a Canon. There are those photographers who are Canon SLR fanatics and there are those who feel the same about Nikon. This addition to the Canon range will keep the Canon faithful, faithful.
