Each year in the fall, as a way to prep the market for the all important winter holiday gift giving season, we see a flood of new point and shoot camera releases. While most of these are very cookie cutter, there are always a couple that are obviously directed at the younger people on your gift list, but the new Pentax Optio RS1000 may be one of the most blatant attempts to capture this market ever.

The SD Association, the people responsible for making sure that all SD memory card items are compliant, has announced a new standard for the memory pins that will see data transfer speeds increasing by as much as 16 times.

Sony is increasing the size of its Alpha DSLR line with new entrants, the A560 and A580. It appears it doesn’t matter which one you get, you’ll still be getting a pretty nice system.

There hasn’t been a whole lot said about 3D cameras in a while now, but as we enter another holiday shopping season it appears that Fujifilm decided there was enough demand to revisit the concept and come out with an update to its FinePix REAL 3D camera line.
