Pentax has announced two new digital cameras belonging to its Optio series. The new cameras will feature increased megapixels and one offers longer zooms however, as seen with the GE E850 things may appear better on paper.

Rite Aid, CVS and Ritz camera all offer single use digital cameras and you pretty much get what you pay for. I can’t help but mention the GE E850 at the start here since I reviewed it not too long ago and in that review I said “it was possible to do just slightly worse” well, these cameras are it. Image quality was far below par, in fact most of them weren’t even usable as 4×6 prints, color tones were off and the processing fees made the whole ordeal almost not worth it.

Data from CIPA (Camera and Imaging Products Association) indicates that digital camera shipments are up compared to the same point last year. Consumer point and shoot shipments were up 27% and shipment of digital SLR cameras (prosumer and professional) were up 75%.

I recently got the chance to review GE’s new E850 digital camera. You may remember that I wrote about this camera in the past but that was before I got to take a firsthand look at it. My impression of the camera is not that good and it has a few quirks that might bother some users.

Most cameras include a feature called “stitch” mode which will allow you to compose panoramic shots of sorts but Sony’s new prototype takes the guesswork out and is fully automatic, all you need is a flat surface.

It’s no secret that the current digicam offerings from Samsung serve up lots of noise in any image but that may be about to change. Currently the cameras are very stylish and that tradition continues, what hopefully will not continue is the image noise.

This has been floating around for the past few weeks and it was time that we got around to it. Samsung has developed a prototype device that functions as both a digital camera and picture frame. What’s even more interesting is that it has two displays.

Another strike for Kodak, one of the lowest end models it offers, the EasyShare C653 was reviewed by Cnet and no one was impressed by it, not even the bystanders that were asked their opinion of the camera.
