How to zoom and focus the iPhone 4 camera
The camera on the iPhone 4 is more than just the camera you always have with you. It is a very nice photo device in it own right. Tap to focus and zoom are two of the major improvements in this camera.
When Apple decided to give us even more megapixels with the iPhone 4 camera, they also added a lot of other useful goodies. It is a photographers maxim that the best camera is the one you have with you. The better camera hardware and software make this especially true with the iPhone 4. Both of these features add a lot of value to the iPhone 4 camera, and they work well when used together. Point your camera more or less at the object that you wish to photograph. Then, tap once on that object. The iPhone 4 will show a box around that object and move the focus to it, so that it is sharp and clear on the display. That is a major improvement, and something that is very difficult to do with many dedicated cameras.
If your object is near the center of the photo, or if you tap to focus them put the object in the center, it will stay sharp if you zoom in on it. The zoom slide appears at the bottom of the display each time you touch the display when the camera is on. Just slide the control from left to right to to zoom in on the object or person. Bear in mind that the more you zoom, the more likely you are to get a little nose in the image, especially in lower-light conditions.
All of this makes it easier to get much better photos with the iPhone 4 than with previous versions of the Apple handset. Play around a little with all the new features and you’ll soon find yourself taking picture at least as good as those you get with your tiny point and shoot cameras.
