Sorry Nikon, but Canon beat you easily in Australia
It would seem that while Nikon is the brand most people think of when they think of the top cameras in the world, at least in Australia, it’s actually Canon.
In a new report from Choice, an Australian firm much like Consumer Reports in the United States, it tested 26 SLR, four-thirds and other high end digital cameras, priced from $536 to $3,499 (Australian) and found Canon to be the top of the heap. Four of the top five spots belonged to various Canon models, with the fourth spot belonging to a Panasonic. Unfortunately we can’t publish the top five due to it being a paid report, but it is still clear this was a very handy victory for Canon.
With the number of camera currently on the market, this is an extremely useful guide as it is becoming impossible to choose what model will best suit your needs. We must say, even though the Canons were obviously the dominant models, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are the right models for you. They may be too powerful, may not suit your needs and so on, but if you are in the market for a new camera, it appears Canons should be the first place you look.
