Panasonic announces details of AG-AF100 Micro Four Thirds camcorderPanasonic has released details of its upcoming professional camcorder, the Micro Four Thirds AG-AF100.

It is amazing that professional quality camcorders are not only shrinking in size, but getting a wider assortment of lenses and using memory cards you can obtain almost anywhere.  The new Panasonic AG-AF1oo can use a wide assortment of Micro Four Thirds lenses, and with a mount you can use 35mm film camera lenses.

Thanks to dual SDXC memory card slots, you can use two 64 GB memory cards and get up to 12 hours of recording time.  The camera can shoot in AVCHD at 1080p and 720p at frame rates of 59.94, 50, 29.97, 25 or 23.9p. We’re not sure why the frame rates are fractional, but that is how they’re listed.

The camera is going to run around $6,000, but considering the number of different lenses this camera can run, that isn’t too bad of a deal.  It is listed as a “professional” unit, there is no reason why anyone can pick this up if they can afford this.  It sounds like a fairly affordable system for your more advanced amateur enthusiasts.

The camera is due for release some time by the end of the year, but no word on an exact date as of yet.
