Stockphotorights.com attempts to simplify explanations of photo rights
It’s easy for people to get confused in the Internet age what photos they can and cannot use for commercial needs. Luckily a new site has launched with only one goal in mind, and that is to make sure that people get as much education as they need to make sure they work inside the law when it comes to licensing images.
Stockphototirghts.com is a new site being jointly built by Getty Images, BAPLA (British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies) and PACA (Picture Archive Council of America).  The project is still in its infancy, and its main product thus far is an informational video explaining all of the rights involved with a photo.  It goes into a full explanation of all the rights involved with a photo, and how each aspect of the image needs clearance.
The site is also working on a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) that goes into deeper explanation of what exactly copyright is, who is responsible for the infringement legally and so on.  There are plans to expand the features of the site over time, but it wants to get itself established first.
While the site is clearly targeted at end users, the more people to spread the address of the site around, the better. Â It could also become a useful resource for photographers to share with clients when and where possible.
