Sony introduces mirrorless NEX-3 and NEX-5
While they aren’t DSLRs in and of themselves, the new NEX-3 and NEX-5 join Sony’s Alpha family of cameras with an impressive ray of features.
The new Sony NEX-3 and Sony NEX-5 are both foregoing mirrors to deliver the smallest, lightest interchangeable lens camera system possible (at this time).  Both units are using the new E mount for the lenses, but you can also use any of the  Sony α lenses by adding the optional LA-EA1 adapter.  The cameras are also lacking a built-in flash, but they do come with an attachable flash you can use via the smart accessory terminal, but they do not have a traditional hot shoe, so you will be restricted from using any flashes that mount via that method.
As for thickness, the NEX-5 Â is just 24.2mm (excluding grip and mount) and the NEX-3 is 25.4mm (excluding grip and mount) at their slimmest points.
