Nokia unveils N8 camera phone with 12 megapixels
Nokia has announced a new camera phone that, while it still won’t rival a DSLR, it may very well give point-and-shoot digitals a run for their money.
There is of course no danger of the Nokia N8 shooting a true 12 megapixels, but with a Carl Zeiss lens, xenon flash and a sensor that supposedly is as good as most compact camera, it will make you wonder why you need to carry a point-and-shoot.  Besides being able to shoot pictures, the camera portion of the phone also promises 720P HD video, and thanks to an HDMI output you will be able to hook it directly into an HDTV for raw playback.
The phone runs on the Symbian^3 operating system and comes with 16GB of built-in storage, expandable up to 48GB via the microSD memory card slot.  It is expected to go on sale in the third quarter of this year for €370.  No date or price has been named for North America as of yet.
