Pentax 645D officially announced
Pentax has finally made an official announcement about the long-awaited 645D medium-format camera, and there is one really nice surprise included, and a price that might make you choke.
Back in Sept. 2009 we reported rumors that the Pentax 645D was being prepped for a spring 2010 release, and that it was said to be 30-megapixels.  Well, the release window was correct, but it turns out it is going to be 40-megapixels instead.  The camera will feature 11 sensor points, weather-proof body, Pentax Real Image Engine, Dust Removal II system, dual SD/SDHC card slots and a glass prism viewfinder.
Thus far a release date of May has been announced for Japan only, with other territories coming later.  As for the price: ¥850,000 ($9,500 USD) for the body and ¥100,000 ($1,100) for the D-FA 645 55mm F2.8 AL lens.
