Do you ever wish your digital photo frame was bigger, uglier and just generally less attractive? Well, Epson has just released the product for you!
Epson has announced the PictureMate Show as a two-in-one digital photo frame and 4†x 6†photo printer.  Perhaps it was only our delusion, but we always thought photo frames were supposed to be unobtrusive, and if not that, at least attractive, but this device has completely failed in that category.  Can you imagine setting this on your coffee table?  How about the end table next to the couch?  Not exactly going to blend into the room is it?
The PhotoMate Show has a seven-inch, 16:9 tilt digital photo display with 800×480-pixel WVGA resolution, and offers 12 different slideshow formats for displaying your images.  It also has a remote control can change the  view and display of your photos.  The device has 270 MB of internal memory for storing photos
The 4â€x6†photo printer offers a print resolution of 5760×1440 dpi and can produce a print in 37 seconds.  Images can come from all the popular memory card formats via built-in card slots, USB thumb drives or  PictBridge devices.  It can also connect to PDAs or digital cameras with an optional Bluetooth adapter.
While we have not seen one of these devices in person, it just honestly feels very disingenuous to us to market this as anything other than a photo printer.  True, it has a large front display, but is anyone really going to place this device anywhere around their house as a photo frame?  No, they aren’t.  It won’t fit in with any room design I can think of other than an office.
All of that being said, the suggested retail price of the PictureMate Show is $299.99.
