Olympus E-P2 gets official details
Olympus has officially announced the EP-2, the continuation of its long standing PEN line of cameras.
Back in June Olympus announced the EP-1, the first digital single-lens reflex (SLR) Micro FourThirds camera from the company. Well, apparently it was enough of a success that the company is moving forward with the EP-2.
The biggest news is that the EP-2 isn’t a huge step up from the EP-1, and feels more like an incremental upgrade, almost like it should have been called EP-1.5 or some such. It features the same 12.3 megapixel sensor as its predecessor, but adds things like detachable viewfinders & microphones, additional art filters, i-Enhance feature, AF tracking, HDMI controlled slideshow and the ability to shoot HD movies.
While the addition of the AVI format movies in 30fps 1280×720p HD is nice, you are limited to about 7 minutes of footage in one shot.
The EP-2 kit will be avaialble beginning in January for an expected £849 in the UK, and $1,099.99 in the USA. The kit will include a 14-42mm lens and a high-resolution external EVF,

The EP-1 and EP-2 cameras are not reflex cameras. In reflex cameras you view an image that has been reflected by a mirror. The EP cameras are compact cameras with interchangable lenses.
