Novoflex launches adapters for Micro Four Thirds mounts
Four Thirds style cameras just got a little bit more consumer friendly thanks to Novoflex launching a slew of new lens mount adapters.
Four Thirds cameras seem to be all the rage right now with the likes of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 launching recently.  The problem with them is that while they are a seeming bridge between the traditional point and shoot and DSLRs, the size of the lens mount has presented a problem for those with  an existing collection of expensive lenses.
Luckily Novoflex, a Germany company that has been making lens mounts for some time for DSLRs and the like, has stepped up and made a slew of adapters for just about any cross-breed camera you want to make.  The new releases include Leica M (LEM/MFT); Leica R (LEM/LER); Nikon G and non-G (MFT/NIK); Contax/Yashica (MFT/CONT); Olympus OM (MFT/OM); Pentax K (MFT/PENT); Minolta MD (MFT/MIN-MD); Sony/Minolta AF (MFT/MIN-AF); Canon FD (MFT/CAN); M42 (MFT/CO) and T2 (MFT/T2).
While the prices aren’t exactly cheap (see price chart below) it is certainly better than buying all new lenses if you already have a large collection of them. Â Seeing as these mounts also cover much older analog lenses, as well as their current digital contemporaries, you can see where the price for the mounts feels more and more resonable.
Mount MSRP $/MSRP €
Nikon F $ 291/€ 169
Pentax K $ 291/€ 169
Sony/Minolta Alpha $ 291/€ 169
Minolta MD $ 211/€ 119
M42 $ TBC/€ 89
Leica M $ 271/€ 149
Leica R $ 211/€ 119
Canon FD $ 211/€ 119
Contax/Yashica $ 211/€ 119
Olympus OM $ 211/€ 119
T2 $ TBC/€ 89
The Nikon F, Pentax K and Sony/Minolta Alpha mounts also include mechanical aperture control rings for those lenses that did not already include them.
