Samsung ST1000 keeps you connected with Wi-Fi and BluetoothSamsung is set to release a new point and shoot that connects to just about everything you can think of … and, oh yeah, it shoots pictures, too.

The new Samsung ST1000, Samsung CL65 in the United States, is carrying just about every form of connectivity under the hood that you can think of, as well as shooting photos and HD video.

While the current standard seems to be 12.1 megapixels, the ST1000 is tagged as shooting 12.2 MP (I feel like this is some joke from This Is Spinal Tap: “Why don’t you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?”  [pause] “These go to eleven.”).  It is also capable of recording HD video in 1280×720p resolution, and at 30 frames per second in H.264 format.

Where this unit gets interesting is in all the ways it can gather information and connect to other devices.  The built-in GPS will give you real-time display on the LCD screen, automatically geo-tag all of your images for you.  You can then use the included Bluetooh 2.0 to transmit your images to a cellular device, or you can use the Wi-Fi to upload images directly from the camera to social sites such as Facebook, Picasa and YouTube.  You can also use the wireless connection to connect with DLNA  (Digital Living Network Alliance) compliant devices such as HDTVs, digital picture frames, media servers or gaming systems in your home network.

The camera will be released under the ST1000 model number in the UK this month, and in the USA under the CL65 model number in September.  The suggested retail price in the United States will be $399.99.
