Sony introduces two new point and shoot models and an automatic tripodThe onslaught of new point and shoot cameras for the holiday shopping season continues with two new models from Sony, along with a new tripod that could lead to all sorts of incriminating photos.

It seems every camera manufacturer has at least a few new point and shoot models coming out in the next month or so, and Sony is no exception. The CyberShot DSC-TX1 and CyberShot DSC-WX1 are the latest additions to the popular consumer line, and the big claim to fame for both models is that they are the first to employ Sony’s new “Exmor R” back illuminated CMOS sensor technology. The goal, besides to be a mouthful to say, is to improve shooting in low-light scenarios by enhancing the image clarity and reducing the grain you typically see in such photos.

Both models are also using the anti-motion blur multi-shot modes that Sony introduced in the DSC-HX1. The “Exmor R” CMOS sensor’s high speed allows these cameras to capture six separate images in less than a second and then utilize Sony’s BIONZ processor to combine the shots into a single image so you get the least amount of noise in the shot as possible.

As for the new tripod, the IPT-DS1 Party-shot, it can pan 360 degrees and tilts up to 24 degrees while automatically detecting faces and adjusts composition while taking photos.  It can run for up to 11 hours on 2 AA batteries, or you can purchase an optional AC adapter.  It currently only works with the DSC-WX1 and DSC-TX1, hence why we mention it here.  It retails for $150 and will be available in September.

It looks like a must watch camera for everyone who is going to buy in recent days. I am sure about its performance as Sony will never compromise with quality of the product. I would love to use that automatic tripod. It will be good one to have.
