Sony named technology Superbrand in the UK

Sony named technology Superbrand in the UKIn a survey of consumers in the United Kingdom, Sony came out as the leader in all technology brands.

In its 11th year, the Superbrands survey has become a key indicator of the strength of brands in the United Kingdom.  The selection process was independently administered by The Centre for Brand Analysis (TCBA) on behalf of the Superbrands organization.

While Superbrands says that consumers choosing a brand in any of its categories means consumers recognize the name as being one of “quality, reliability and distinction”, it could also just mean that they saw a brand name they recognized while filling out the form.  It is still nice to know your advertising dollars are paying off, but not sure how far I would go with all of those adjectives.

Matt Coombe, General Manager, Marketing, Sony UK Limited did add a comment that makes you giggle, mainly because you know he was actually being sincere, although it comes off as monumentally goofy.

It’s great to be recognized by Superbrands as the leading technology brand in the U.K., especially as Sony not only develops and manufactures consumer electronics, but also content for those devices through our entertainment brands Sony Pictures, Sony Music and Sony Ericsson. I believe we are the only true entertainment brand in our field, covering everything from theatrical releases and music publishing to TV via Blu-ray, WALKMANS, PCs and cameras. It is this united approach that gives the brand its ‘Sonyness’ and point of difference.

Remember the next time that you go out and purchase any Sony equipment, you are embracing the brand’s… ‘Sonyness’.

All kidding and mocking aside, Sony is a quality brand that makes equipment you know you can rely on.

… and its filled with Sonyness, so that means it has to be good, right?
