Amadana SAL lets you share videos without a computer
Chances are by now you’ve seen a Flip Mini video camera at least once or twice. The compact cameras are designed primarily to shoot video for the Web, offer easy video uploads, and low prices for consumers. Now a Japanese company has taken the concept a step further with the Amadana SAL, which not only shoots videos, but also allows you to share them with other Amadana SAL cameras without using a computer.
The concept of sharing videos directly from one mobile device to another is a pretty solid one. In order for this to actually work however all your friends (or at least the ones you want to share videos with) would have to be rocking Amadana SAL camcorders as well, which depending on your friends could certainly pose a problem. I know most of my friend currently use a variety of different manufacturers of cameras, it would be quite a task to get everyone to agree on the same thing just so we could share content on the fly.

Assuming you can’t get any friends to jump on the Amadana wagon, the camera is still a pretty decent pocket camcorder. Packed in its compact body is a VGA quality video camera and 3-megapixel still camera. The camcorder records MPEG-4 video at 30fps, and has 2GB of internal memory to store your videos before they need to be downloaded onto a computer.
The “SAL” part of the camcorders name stands for Smile and Laugh, Share a Life, Share a Love, and Sexy and Lovely (they couldn’t quite settle on just one acronym). The device is expected to be available in black, gray, brown, green, and pink in May for around $200.
What do you think about sharing videos directly from one camcorder to another? Would you do it, or do you think it is a useless feature?
