Use your camera as a scanner to make PDF documents

By Gareth Powell

scannerpdfSnapter lets you use your digital camera as a scanner and create a .pdf file. If you do not have a scanner then it is possibly a must.

You need to make a copy of a document to get, say, a driving license. You do not have a scanner. You can get around the problem using your digital camera and the Snapter program.

Snapter is software that does all sorts of jolly things to improve a document, some of which you can do with other graphics programs, but not as easily and probably not as well. Once the built-in automatic filters have cleaned up the  image you can output is a a .pdf document and that is pretty much the standard for handing document imagery. You could, of course, use Adobe Acrobat but that costs quite serious money.

The pricing is easy to understand and follow:

Snapter is free to try and remains functioning after trial.  The program is fully functional during the first 14 days.  After that, the output contains some tagline and very light watermark.  The image will still be in very usable quality.

If you want output with no watermark, you can upgrade to Lite and Full versions.

1. Lite version get rid of watermark in Documents and Cards modes.

2. Full version get rid of watermark in all 4 modes.

The Lite version is $20, the full $49. In truth, you probably are not going to use it that much and only if you are using it in an office will you need to buy a copy. It is a neat idea which fills a simple need. You can get it at Snapter.
