Paul Smith and Lomogrpahy release limited editon Fisheye 2
Paul Smith and Lomogrpahy have gotten together to create a special limited edition of Lomography’s Fisheye 2 camera. The camera takes the traditional the Fisheye camera and adds Paul Smith’s multi colored stripe design to the metal body to create a unique camera experience.
From the site “This camera has a 180 degree wide-angle view and stunning fisheye barrel distortion. The fisheye No2 adds a bulb setting for long exposures, a switch for multiple exposures on the same frame, the ability to fire both a hotshoe flash and the built in flash and has a true fisheye viewfinder. The camera is finished with a full metal jacket body with the signature Paul Smith multi stripe. Uses 35mm film with regular development.”
The 100% metal camera is available now for a $150 price tag.
Do you think novelty cameras like this one are worth the price? $150 is a pretty hefty price tag for a 35mm camera these days. Sure this is a pretty cool looking shooter, I have to say I would be inclined to purchase one if I can upon it sitting on the store shelves. I don’t think I would ever be so inclined to purchase one that I would ever spend $150 for it. Fisheye lenses are pretty neat to take pictures with. I don’t have one for my SLR, but I’ve always been really excited about pictures I’ve seen taken with them.
Do you think the camera is appropriately priced? What do you think an appropriate price tag for the camera would be? As a to some extent novelty camera, it’s a pretty high quality one. I think I would probably impulse buy it at $50, maybe even $75 if it had built-in digital photo capabilities (even if it was just at a low 2 or 3 megapixel resolution.)
