Aperture updated to 2.1.2
Apple has released an update to their popular photo editing software Aperture. Aperture 2.1.2 is a minor update to the software which improves the printing quality of cards, calendars, and books ordered through the Aperture printing service.
Aperture is designed is such a way that it makes it easy to share your photographs with others. Photographs can be easily exported in a variety of different formats and uploaded directly to your Flickr, SmugMug, Zenfolio, or Picasa account.
Aperture has integrated support through MobileMe which allows you to publish your photographs instantly to your Web page, even allowing you to create password protected pages for photos you may not want to be available for the world to see.
The books that are available from Aperture’s printing service are available in both softcover and hardcover options. A large double sided softcover book runs $19.99 for a 10 page version with addition pages running $.70. Hardcover versions are slightly more expensive at $29.99, with additional pages running $.99. Both books have a 100 page maximum.
At 100 pages, you’re looking at a book that cost more than $130 – not exactly affordable. The idea behind the books is a pretty good one, however, and if you’re looking at just making a keepsake for Grandma at Christmas, then the books could be a nice option to try.
In addition to books you can also create calendars using your pictures as well as postcards and folding greeting cards, or just order prints of your photographs to be sent to your home. Prints can be ordered in sizes up to a 20 by 30 poster size for those memories you want to remember, in a large way.
You can download the update for free from Apple’s website or through your Mac’s software update program. The full version of Aperture 2 is $199, with an update from the original running $99.
