Kodak announces Z1485 14-megapixel camera with HD video recording
Kodak has announced the new Z1485 to its EasyShare Z-series digital camera lineup. The camera can take photographs at a 14 megapixel resolution, as well as shoot high-definition video at 720p and 30fps.
Features for the camera include:
Optical Image Stabilization
Optical image stabilization will keep a shot steady, even when you’re hands aren’t. An optical zoom comes particularly in handy when you’re taking a photograph using a cameras zoom. Pictures that might otherwise be blurry can sometime be corrected by an optical zoom.
14 megapixel resolution
14 megapixel resolution will enable you to take photographs that can be printed up to a 30 x 40-inch size preserving their quality.
5x optical zoom
The Kodak Z1485 has a 5x optical zoom which is the equivalent of a 35-175mm lens on a 35mm camera.
Face Detection
The Kodak Z1485 has face detection technology that allows it to detect faces present in a photograph.
ISO
The camera has an ISO up to 6400. Unfortunately the 6400 ISO and lower 3200 ISO are only available when you’re taking a picture at a resolution of 3.1 megapixels or less, which is a disappointing feature. It would have been nice if Kodak had made higher ISO’s available with higher resolution photo taking. Other options include 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1600.
Memory Card
The camera saves photographs and video to a removable SD memory card.
HD Video Recording
In addition to taking pictures the Kodak Z1485 can record high-definition video at 720p and 30fps. In order to play the video back on your television you will need an optional dock that runs $100.
White Balance
The Kodak Z1485 can be white-balanced automatically, or for daylight, tungsten, florescent, and open shade lighting.
The camera is available now from Kodak’s website in black, blue, and pink for $300.
