Sharpener Pro 3.0 Photoshop plug-in released

Nik Software has announced the third version of Sharpener Pro, a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop and Apple Aperture. The plug-in uses Nik Software’s “U Point technology” which gives users the ability to selectively sharpen objects within their photographs.

Michael J. Slater, president and CEO of Nik Software said “Sharpener Pro 3.0 has been dramatically improved with a range of new features, including powerful creative sharpening tools, a soft proofing option, and integrated U Point technology…This new version of Sharpener Pro offers the most comprehensive tools for optimally sharpening images for any output device while also offering photographers the complete control they expect”

Key features of Sharpener Pro 3.0 include:

  • New U Point powered control points-The new U Point Control points give users precise and selective sharpening control.
  • Updated output sharpening -Updated output sharpening helps to control your image output to a variety if displays and printers
  • New creative sharpening -The new creative sharpening helps enhance fine details within your pictures.
  • Updated RAW Pre-sharpener -The updated RAW pre-sharpener enhances details in your images without amplifying things like noise and other artifacts
  • New output presets -The new output presets enable you to save your custom settings within the program for consistent results.

Shapener Pro 3.0 will be available this month via download from Nik Software’s website, and available from select camera retailers in October. The full version of the plug-in will cost $199.95 and upgrades from previous versions will run $99.95. The program requires you to be running Adobe Photoshop or Aperture, and either Windows Vista or OSX Leopard.
