A dSLR alternative for those who want a big zoom and video capture.”- Cnet.co.uk Review

“…you will get the shot you want with no compromise, yet that is only the beginning of what makes this camera so exciting.”- Amazon.co.uk

“I can recommend the S5 to just about anyone interested in an ultra zoom camera. If you’re a PowerShot S3 owner wondering if you should upgrade, I would only say “yes” if you need the hot shoe and longer movie recording times.”-

Our comment:

It looks like the Canon has made a great follow-up to an otherwise digital camera in the form of the Powershot S5 IS which is the successor to the S3 IS. My first digital camera was an earlier Powershot model and I could only say one thing about Canon’s Powershot line – simply great! So, I’m banking on the Powershot’s reputation as one of the leader when it comes to the Powershot S5 IS. It would be good to see some more reviews from people who have maximized the usage of the S5 IS to see how it fares.
