What punters are saying:
“the diminutive 790SW is built like a tank and can be taken along on active outdoor adventures (like back country hiking, rock climbing, off-road biking, snorkeling, skiing, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, hang gliding, and white water rafting) that would oblige most users to leave the digital camera at home.”-Howard Creech
“This is the digital camera you may want in your pocket if you travel a lot, do boating, hiking, skiing, and other sports activities. It is not afraid of falls, bumps, salt water sprays or snow.”-Photoxels
“The 790SW is lacking in terms of quality. Its resolution isn’t effective, its components are low-quality, and the resulting pictures don’t look that good. Expect to see blur, noise, moiré, and other artifacts in pictures and videos.”-Emily Raymond
Our comment:
It’s seldom that a digital camera as tough and as rugged proof as the Olympus 790 SW. That’s why if you don’t mind its low optical zoom capability, low resolution and high noise output, then this camera is for you. Otherwise, you’d be better off with other digital camera in its class and then get those waterproof casing if you need to bring your camera while scuba diving or snorkeling.

I have that camera, I’m very happy with it as I sail a lot and love to take it aboard. The pictures can be a little noisy with some settings and it takes a while to know how to get good shots with it. 4/5 points
