Digital camera report: Ricoh GR DIGITAL II The Ricoh GR DIGITAL II  is a compact digital camera designed for consumers who want a slim line, yet advanced digital camera that is easy to operate.

Priced at around US$700 the GR DIGITAL II is is a belated update of the original GR DIGITAL launched about two years ago.

According to Ricoh, the GR DIGITAL II is a “camera that’s advanced yet simple to operate, reliable and precision built”.

Key features include:

  • 10 megapixel imaging sensor, 1/1.75-inch CCD
  • Macro allows photography from 1.5 cm
  • No optical zoom
  • Focal length 5.9mm (35mm equivalent 28mm)
  • 80 to 16000 ISO (sensitivity)
  • 2.7-inch LCD screen (230,000 pixels)
  • 370 shots per battery charge
  • Takes SD memory card, SDHC card, Multi media card, also has internal memory (approx 54 Mb)
  • Lightweight diecast magnesium body
  • 198 grams (with battery)
  • Dimensions of 107.0 mm x 58.0 mm x 25.0 mm (W x H x D)
  • Electronic leveler, which lets you view the horizontal indicator in the LCD monitor to ensure that shots are aligned horizontally.

Our comment:

Well it looks like Ricoh is getting some mixed feedback to the new GR DIGITAL II. Having said that, the GR DIGITAL II does look good on paper, so we’ll be interested in seeing some reviews.
