Canon EOS-1-Ds Mark III DSLR

By Arnold Zafra

Canon EOS-1-Ds Mark III DSLR The new Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III DSLR is one powerful SLR packed with high-end features that will no doubt please Canon DSLR aficionados. With 21.1 megapixel full-frame Canon CMOS sensor, the Mark III can capture image with up to 5,632 x 3,750 pixel resolutions.

Despite having this high pixel resolution, the Mark III’s CMOS sensor is designed to ensure low noise and the widest usable ISO ranging from 50 to 3200. This should allow you to capture crisp, high-res images without the pixilation and grains usually brought about by high ISO settings.

Aside from the 21.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, Canon’s Mark III also boosts high speed image processing and quality enhancement through its dual “DIGIC” image processor.  The dual “DIGIC III” image processors are designed to squeeze extra performance from the 21.1 million pixels and 5 frames per second shutter capabilities of the Mark III. They should also reduce digital noise, especially when taking pictures in shadowy areas.

A unique feature of the Mark III is its picture style technology. This technology allows photographers to recreate the characteristics of their favorite film. Film picture settings such as color, saturation, sharpness and contrast can be easily setup. The Mark III is preloaded with six picture style settings, including Standard, Portrait, Landscape, Neutral, Faithful and Monochrome. Aside from these six setting, photographers can also create three additional settings.

As with other Canon EOS cameras, the Mark III has the integrated cleaning system which is triggered when the camera is turned off and on. This has been a great help for photographers who often change lenses, and helps to keep lenses well cleaned and maintained even when periodic maintenance is not carried out.

The Canon EOS-1-Ds Mark III looks to be a great addition to Canon’s stable of DSLR cameras. To be released sometime in November, the Mark III would certainly encourage professional photographers and enthusiasts to consider upgrading.

I too love this camera, but can’t help thinking they are just still a little too bulky.
