By Arnold Zafra

SanDisk announces 8GB Extreme III SDHC high performance card for digital cameras The Extreme III SDHC (SD High-Quality) flash memory card is Sandisk latest offering from its line of high performing memory cards for digital cameras. Geared for photo hobbyists and photography enthusiasts who uses high-end digital SLR cameras, the Sandisk Extreme III SDHC can store up to 8GB of data. This is equivalent to around 4,000 high resolution images or up to 16 hours MPEG 4 video.

Besides the storage space, downloading to a personal computer wouldn’t be a problem as well when dealing with large files as the memory card has a read/write speed of 20 megabytes per second. Data transfer from the Sandisk memory card to a personal computer is fast and secured with the use of ESP technology and  RescuePRO software for recovering accidentally deleted files and images.

Tanya Chuang, SanDisk’s director of retail product marketing for global imaging, describes the new Sandisk memory as the perfect choice for photographers and photo hobbyists who need memory cards which have large storage space and durable as well since those cards will certainly be put into prolonged use.

“With the introduction of more cameras that can use SDHC, including the Nikon D80 and the Canon EOS-1D Mark II, the SanDisk Extreme III card is an ideal choice for those who want maximum dependability, durability and fast download speeds,” says Chuang.

The 8GB Extreme III SDHC flash memory card is slated for shipping in U.S. retail stores in the next 30 days with an SRP of $179.99. The package comes with a nifty SanDisk MicroMate USB 2.0 Reader  with a retail value of $20.
