Olympus announces E-3 Digital SLR camera

By Arnold Zafra

Olympus announces E-3 Digital SLR camera Olympus has unveiled its newest digital SLR E-3, fully loaded with high-end features that Olympus cameras are known for. The Olympus E-3 combines speed and waterproof durability, allowing both professional and enthusiastic photographers to capture images in any situation and condition.

The Olympus E-3 digital SLR touts what Olympus claims is the world’s fastest autofocus technology.  According to Olympus, when this autofocus technology is combined with the newly released Zuiki Digital SWD ED 12-60mm f2.8-4 lens, photographers can be sure of fast focus, as well as clear and sharp photos.

With the E-3’s twin cross type (fully biaxial) 11 point AF sensor, the E-3 allows high speed focusing even if photographers attach lens other than the Zuiki lens. The AF speed alone confirms that the Olympus E-3 really is a fast DSLR.

Another interesting feature of the Olympus E-3 is the in-body mechanical image stabilization technology, which when combined with the supersonic wave drive, produces crisp images without blurring, no matter what lens you attach to it. This answers the problem of photographing on a low-light background using a telephoto lens. Even a novice photographer would love this feature since it will reduce the effect of shaky hands.

The Olympus E-3 is equipped with a 10 megapixel Live MOS image sensor that produces high resolution images, which retain their quality even when printed in a large format size.

When viewing photos, the Olympus E-3’s Swivel Live View LCD provides different viewing angles with real-time image monitoring of white balance and exposure. This feature is highly controllable to achieve the best possible photos. In addition to the Live View LCD, the Olympus E-3’s optical viewfinder is something worth mentioning as well. This viewfinder is said to provide an accurate view, offering 1.15x magnification.

And the last feature that makes Olympus E-3 stand out, is its magnesium alloy chassis, which is splash-proof and dust-proof, and allows the Olympus E-3 to be used in rugged, outdoor environments.
