Canon to deliver two new telephoto lenses
By Arnold Zafra
Canon is set to deliver two new telephoto lenses for its digital SLR cameras, the EF200mm f/2L IS USM and the EF800mm f/5.6L IS USM.
It’s been a while since Canon released a new set of lens for its popular EOS SLR series. At least these two new lenses promising, and will hopefully meet the needs of its user base. Both these two new lenses belong to the Canon L (luxury) series lenses. So, expect a high-performing image stabilizer, high-resolution and high-contrast shooting performance.
The EF200mm f/2L IS with its large aperture of f/2 is geared for professional photographers and hobbyists who specialize in portraiture and indoor sports photography. While the EF800mm is being developed specifically for sports and news photography which demand longer focal lengths.
Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager of Canon Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. said that the new lenses is Canon’s way of contributing to the expanding photographic possibilities of SLR cameras and the company’s response to the wide-ranging needs of professional and advanced amateur users.
“Canon’s EOS System is the premier brand of digital SLR cameras, and we take great pride in offering the world’s largest selection of interchangeable auto focus lenses,” says Ishizuka.
There are not many details available yet, including pricing, for these two lenses, as the lenses are still under development. But expect the price to be competitive – Canon lenses usually are.
