Samsung L77 reviewed, long zoom, slim body, sluggish performance

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Samsung L77 reviewed, long zoom, slim body, sluggish performance The Samsung L77 has been making the review circuit and overall it’s not a bad camera but it’s not a very good one either.  It is a pocketable camera that has a long zoom and slim body but that’s about all it has going for it.

Cnet put the camera through a battery of tests and while it did power on in just under two seconds, cycling between images took too long at around 2.4 seconds which became even longer if the flash was used.

It has a 7x optical zoom lens that stays within the body even when zoomed out all the way.  The zoom also works in movie mode.

Despite the images having color accuracy, it did exhibit an abnormal amount of noise starting with ISO 200 and getting worse from there.

Given the $260 price tag and the fact that Cnet gave it only a 6.4 out of 10, I think it’s possible to do much better for the money, I suggest any of the Canon PowerShot series, it’s almost impossible to go wrong with them, first time buyers should start there.
