Canon offers affordable photo printing with Pixma iP4300
By Jonathan Schlaffer
There are those in this world who can splurge on a $500 photo printer. Most of us can’t or those that can spend $500 would rather use it for something else. Almost every expensive photo printer I’ve seen doesn’t do well when it comes to grayscale or black and white text. Canon, once again, comes to the rescue with the Pixma iP4300 inkjet printer.
Most importantly, the iP4300 won’t break the bank with its $100 (or less) price tag. Many people wouldn’t expect much out of a $100 inkjet printer but what it does; it does well and exceeds more expensive models.
The iP4300 also supports two-sided printing out of the box (also called duplexing) so you don’t need to buy any expensive accessories. It also has two sheet trays which hold 150 pages each, a button on the control panel selects which tray to use. The output tray holds 75 pages.
Canon uses the five-ink design in the iP4300, cyan, magenta, yellow, black and pigment-black cartridges. This design can be looked at as being more cost effective because you aren’t wasting as much ink, when one color begins to run low or dry out, simply replace the one.
PC World was able to review the Pixma iP4300 in their lab giving it a score of 84 out of 100 with this conclusion “The Pixma iP4300 has it all: speed, impressive output quality, and a good price.” Though it was noted the controls were small and not intuitively labeled.
